
Mendoza, Daniel, 1764-1836 · 1816
Daniel Mendoza was the boxing champion in England from 1792 to 1795, and one of the most famous boxers of his era. He was a scientific boxer, including developing many defensive tactics. His early boxing career was defined by three bouts with Richard Humphreys, which he outlines in detail in this book. Mendoza also wrote a book called "The Art of Boxing" that was published in 1785. "The Art of Boxing" spoke to his scientific style of boxing and was a huge influence on future boxers and the development of the sport.
