Here and Now, Southeast Asian refugees helped by wisconsin social services groups, After working and waiting thirteen years, Sarah Vang and her extended family welcomed Ms. Vang's father Kai Vang, who after a 13-year wait, was evacuated from a Hmong refugee camp in Thailand and flown to Wisconsin. More than 3, 000 refugees are expected to come to Wisconsin in the next year or so. Families who will start the American dream the old-fashioned way, from scratch and most often with little or no English language. Hundreds of Southeast Asian refugees in Wisconsin are helped by groups like Lutheran Social Services in Wausau. Joining us by phone is the Area Supervisor there, Jason Cram. Also with us, a Madison-based social worker Kabzuah Vaj. John Edwards (interview from show # 232-1, airdate of 2-13-04), John Edwards has completed the democratic presidential ticket in waiting. John Kerry selected the North Carolina Senator this week as vice-presidential candidate, sparking partisan debate over his experience, his age, and his positions on the issues. The campaign finance reform law known as McCain-Feingold aimed to reduce the flow of dollars into elective politics. How's it fairing so far this campaign year.
