Here and Now, snow storm and emergency management, Major snow storm and how state emergency management is dealing with it in comparision to last years backup on the interstate, GM Janesville plant closing in Dec 2008, President George Bush this morning announced a rescue plan that would -loan- the companies 17-point-four billion dollars from the bail-out funds. G-M will get nine-point-four billion right away. This recue plan comes with strings attached: the companies must negotiate -new- agreements with their unions. And it appears the plan would NOT change the immediate fortunes for workers at the Janesville G-M plant...set to shut down permanently next Tuesday. federal help to cities, City Mayors from around the country are lining up for federal help. Help that some say, including Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt, is not a hand-out so much as an additional way to kick start the nation's economy. Beet Juice used on winter roads as de-icer, Heavy snow tested the will of street crews across the state. The site of snow plows reminded us of an offbeat story aired last winter on our sister program 'In Wisconsin.' Art Hackett reports from Beloit on a winter road treatment that at leat on the surface...sounds kind of funny.
