For some it is a craft, but for Polish immigrant, Wladislaw Stopka, violin making is an art form he has imported to Albuquerque's "Old World Violin" shop. He has shared his recipe for perfection with American violin makers, Peter White and Ken Keppler, and together they won nine of eleven international awards for excellence at a recent competition in Tucson, Arizona. As luthiers, they perceive every instrument to be a distinct individual, with its own personality and charm. White describes the instruments as his children, conceived and created by him. He says violins are actually a Continuum of nature... pointing to their construction and similarities to the human form.
