The people and places of southeastern New Mexico inspired painter Peter Hurd and it was here that he developed his true artistic style. The deep love he felt for the area celebrated a way of life that would soon change. Interviewer is Kate Nelson and interviewee Sara Woodbury (Curator of Collections, Roswell Museum of Art). “When I see his paintings, I’m just really struck by how immersed he is in his surroundings." Painter Henriette Wyeth found magic in the everyday. “Her father was her most profound teacher, her strongest influence. But she also wanted to assert her own creative voice and say, "I am not just my father's daughter. I am my own artist. I am a woman, and I'm going to embrace all of this." Abiquiú’s Sabra Moore shares her role in bringing the feminist voice to life through her art practice. “It was a form of storytelling and it was through that shared experience that we really were able to analyze both our oppression and our difference.”
