A letter to Edward Hitchcock in which Benjamin Silliman discusses a report on bird tracks that Hitchcock will be writing for the American Journal of Science. Silliman adds a long postscript in which he questions Hitchcock's personal criticisms of some who have written about world floods, focusing especially on Charles Lyell.
