Episode 508 explores Hamakua, the northwest section of Hawaii and talks about the economic and cultural history of the island and interviews several people about their life in Hamakua. Kia Fronda talks about his family history, his attempt to preserve the Hawaiian way of life, and his taro farm. Francis Morgan, owner of the Hamakua Sugar Company, talks about how he purchased the company to save it and shows some of the ways he is increasing profit.
