Larger-than-life-size painted portraits and passages of text hang from the balcony of a building overlooking Plaza Betances. It serves as a backdrop for many Festival Betances events. The text in this passage, in Spanish, reads, "Habia una vez una nena que se llamaba Lily y estaba andando en bicicleta y su Mamá le habia dicho que no la corrira por la calle. Pero no le hizo. Cuando Lily cruzo la calle con su bici un carro le dio un cantaso y la llevaron al hospital. Se habia roto una pierna pasaron dos meses y se puso bien y desde esa vez. Ella escucho lo que su mama le decia." The gist of this cautionary tale is that Lily did not listen to her mother and went out into the street with her bicycle where she got hit by a car. She broke her leg and spent time in the hospital. Ever since then, she has listened to her mother.
