Cardboard with sewn-on sample beads numbers 1 through 104. The beads are dull and opaque. Bead 29 and 78 are fantasy beads, in which strips of mosaic glass have been fused. Beads of this type were not sold in West Africa.Manufacture Mosaic beads belong to the group of wound beads, called lamp made beads. These are made by hand. \Glass is wound around a piece of copper wire using pliers, after which the copper wire is pulled out. This creates the hole in the bead. The pattern in the bead is created by inlaid and melted mosaics. This is a very labour intensive process.
