Shirt for a man (camisa)

A linen weave camisa, men's shirt woven of white cotton with decorated neckline. This is a Tacuate men's shirt from Santa Maria Zacatepec, Putla district, Oaxaca. The camisa was purchased locally (?) by Bodil Christensen in 1952. The front and back panel are sewn together only at the shoulders and otherwise hang loose. The 2 ends of the neck opening are folded back and stitched to the blouse with purple cotton thread and finished with a red thread. The neckline is richly decorated with miniature animals embroidered on the camisa in different colours (blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, red, brown and purple).
