A fragment of a miniature socketed axe head of Iron Age to Roman date (1000 BC - AD 410). The object is rectangular in plan and tapers inward towards to cutting end. The cutting edge in curved and flares outward slightly. The open, socketed aspect is missing due to an old abraded break.The metal is a dark green in colour with smooth patina. Length: 31.41mm, Width: 27.10mm, Thickness: 10.27mm, Weight: 20.2g.
