An incomplete late Bronze Age to Roman (1150 BC - AD 410) copper alloy miniature socketed axehead, probably of Robinson's Type IVa (Robinson, Wiltshire Archaeology Magazine 1995, p.61) with vertical parallel sides and broadly square in plan. It measures 25.5mm in length, 17.05mm wide (including the vestiges of the loop), 13.65mm wide (cutting edge) 10.95mm thick (socket) and 5.9mm thick (break before cutting edge). The miniature socketed axehead weighs 13.01 grams. The axehead is thinnest at the break before the blade end (5.9mm thick) expanding over the length to 10.95mm at the socket. The socket is incomplete measures 7.95x6.4mm (internally) and is 10.7mm deep. The incomplete loop is cast to the the top.
