Copper alloyMiniature axe or axe-chisel. Cast flat tapering blade, resembling a miniature version of the earliest and simplest solid cast copper alloy axe-heads. The sides are slightly indented, the blade curved and perhaps thinned by sharpening, while the butt end is thin. Antiquarian discoveries suggest these objects might be hafted with a handle set at the narrower end. A function as a chisel or a leatherworking blade is possible, though the broad flat tang would tend to split a handle. The surface is pitted by ancient corrosion, though the object appears currently stable.Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2150-1500 BC.
