Incomplete copper alloy miniature shield. The shield is flat, hexagonal in plan, and has a large decorative boss in the centre. The boss consists of two concentric raised circles, with perhaps a raised pellet in the centre. The outer circle is thicker than the inner. There is no sign of a grip on the reverse of the boss. The shield is in a fair state of preservation; the lower part of the shield is missing and the boss is damaged.Miniature shields are difficult to date however they are thought to range from circa 400BC to the mid-late 1st century AD.
