Incomplete copper alloy miniature shield. The shield is flat, oval in plan, and is in a very poor state of preservation. The shield surface is very crumpled and irregular, and there is no visible boss. Approximately one third of the shield is missing and this is mainly from the right hand side. There are a number of holes in the shield surface and it is not clear whether any of these are intentional.Miniature shields are difficult to date although they are thought to range from circa 400BC to the mid-late 1st century AD.
