A copper alloy miniature sword, perhaps a toy, of unknown date, probably Medieval or Post Medieval. The sword is in the form of a broad sword. It has a rounded pommel, sub-rectangular sectioned grip, getting wider towards the guard which is rectangular in cross-section with rounded pointed ends. The blade is hexagonal in cross-section, is not sharp, and has a rounded tip. The blade of the sword is bent in several places. Themetal has a smooth green patina. There is no evidence of any attachment. It is 78.6mm long, 17.2mm wide and 4.5mm thick. 10.9g. There are no close parallels on the PAS database, but SUR-261A81 is a toy sword that appears to be more recent. Numerous votive Roman swords are known, but they are clearly different in style to this example.
