A copper-alloy miniature axehead probably dating to the Roman period. The butt of the axehead is a bulbous and thins to the thickness of the blade. The butt is separated from the rest of the blade by a socket which runs across to object which means that the object would lie flat when suspended. The blade flares out from the socket to the cutting edge.
