A copper alloy miniature chisel possibly of Roman date (43 AD - 410 AD). The chisel is semi-circular with concave shoulders curving up to the socket. The handle is missing. The blade is decorated with an incised line running down the socket to the centre of the edge of the blade on both sides. The object is 19.8mm long, 17.6mm wide and 5.2mm thick. Miniature tools are often found and it is believed that they may have had a superstitious or religious purpose. The metal is in good condition and has an even dark grey and green patina.
