The blade end of an incomplete bronze miniature socketed axehead. The splayed blade edge has been recently damaged and is almost black, perhaps due to a corrosive product. The break at the socketed end is ancient. The end of the socket is present just below the break. The sides of this axehead are rounded rather than squared as is common on larger axeheads. The patina is pale medieum green-grey. This miniature axehead is probably Roman in date although earlier examples, back to the late Bronze Age are known (WAM 88, 1995, 60-68).
