Date: 2nd - 3rd Century (AD. c.100-300)Description: Complete cast silver Roman finger ring with oval gemstone, an example of Henig Type II (Henig 1978). The hoop is D-shaped in section with the broad shoulders narrowing towards the base of the hoop. The ring has flattened swollen shoulders and a thickened bezel. The bezel is inlaid with an oval black stone, displaying a central groove believed to represent damage rather than part of a worn engraving.
