Orange skirt, also called 'dragon skirt' (in China 'mang chu'), as part of a bridal costume. This color orange was popular among Peranakan Chinese and was called 'kuning pinang masak', or the yellow color of a ripe betel nut.‖ The skirt has several embroidered motifs including a dragon's head (on the middle strip) and feng huang birds (Chinese phoenix).\The depiction of a dragon and a feng huang bird together represents marital bliss, and depicts that the bride and groom are emperor (symbolized by the dragon) and empress (symbolized by the feng huang bird) for a day.
