Function:-Series of small servilletas.-The female dress repertoire consists of a multi-colored top called a huipil; a skirt called a falda or corte; an embroidered or woven belt called a faja; adornment for the head and hair called a cinta; and a cloth for various purposes called a tzute or servilleta.-Description: \This cloth is woven in white with fringes at the ends. At fixed intervals, the weft is omitted to make it appear that the cloth is made up of several segments. The cloth has an embroidered decoration of yellow, green, brown, red and dark blue females and birds (ducks) evenly distributed throughout the cloth. Each segment has a row of birds, a row of females, and another row of birds.‖ Technique:‖ These servilletas were woven on a lap loom with a very fine thread and with a linen weave.‖ Notes:‖ This piece was actually intended to be several servilletas joined together, but also existed for sale.‖ Community of Origin:‖Chichicastenango is a subdivision of the El Quiché department.
