Medieval weight; cast lead suspension weight of probable medieval date. Possibly a fishing net weight or similar. The weight is roughly shield-shaped with a sub-circular hole pierced through the apex of the shield. There is also a groove on both faces running from the piercing to the edge of the weight and across the top. This may suggest that the hole was formed by drawing the two sides of the weight up and sealing them together to form the top of the loop. The bottom of the weight is somewhat rough and unfinished. There is no decoration on either side. The whole has a thick green-brown patina over its surface.Length 54.1mm, width 41.8mm, thickness 8.6mm, weight 124.2g
