POST MEDIEVAL THIMBLE

A deep drawn copper-alloy thimble dating the 18th century.The object is dome shaped with a flat circular area on the top of the dome. The sides are regular with impressed dots at regular intervals. There is a band at the base with no impressed dots before a collar made of up-turned sheet metal. This rim is direct evidence for the deep drawing process which was started in Birmingham in the 18th century.
