Butterfly Basket

Constructed in the shape of a butterfly, this basket includes double plied twisted seagrass cord, wood splints, and round reeds woven in a plain weave. This variety of materials gives the piece texture and provides a slight variation in color, as the seagrass cord is darker than the splints and round reeds. The handle is covered with a plain weave and reed weft.
