A newspaper clipping (2 1/8 x 2 7/16 in.) is attached to a single sheet of paper that is attached to a portion of an album page. The news announcement reads, “Letters from Home / Okinawa, April 10 (AP)—The mail man has been functioning on Okinawa since a week ago today—invasion day plus one. He even is operating the intricate business of processing V-Mail. The Navy postmaster for this area is Lt. Andrew Walker, Alburquerque, N.M. His post office is aboard an LST (landing ship, tank).” The name "Lt. Andrew Walker" in the newspaper clipping is underlined by hand and an arrow line extends from the name to a sheet of paper upon which a message and map are handwritten in ink. The message reads, “Mrs Myers (Ida, if I may); George practically set this up by himself, that is he directed it. I’m very happy to have such a good serve with me. [signed] Andy.” Above the message is a map of the interior of a postal facility that includes areas for V-Mail, ship mail, air mail, registered mail, stamps and parcel post.
