Citing "unavailable transportation to the area resulting from sanctions imposed by the US, UK, EU, and many others," the United States Postal Service formally suspended international mail services to Russia effective March 11, 2022. Mailpieces previously accepted for destinations in Russia, but still held in postal facilities awaiting shipment, were returned to sender. In the months following Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, most of the world's postal administrations and shipping companies suspended service to Russia.
