This jacket belonged to the donor's father, John Schmitz. Schmitz worked for the USPS twice, first in the early 1970s and then again in the mid 1980s until 2004. He initially worked downtown Chicago as a mail carrier. Eventually he got into the collections side, where he drove around with a 2 ton truck and emptied collection boxes on street corners.
