Reporting that the stamps ordered on June 1 are ready for delivery. This is the first printing of the 1847 Issue, which was picked-up personally by John Marron, Third Assistant Postmaster General, at the contractor's office in New York City on July 1, 1847. He delivered 60,000 5-cent stamps and 20,000 10-cent stamps to the New York City post office that same day. Consequently, this is the only post office from which a first day cover might some day be found.
