Owney, American, c. 1888 - 1897 · 1888-1897
Owney received this identification token from James W. Hazen of Baraboo, Wisconsin. Hazen worked briefly as a railway conductor on the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. The symbol of a compass and square at the bottom of the token indicates that Hazen was a Freemason. There is no additional information to indicate when Hazen gave it to the dog.
