Snyder requests immediate information about the amount being paid Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson for the production of postage stamps. He might have been considering a bid for the new contract, or he might have been acting on behalf of the Philadelphia engraving firm of Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Company, although his name is not included on contemporary records as a partner or employee of that firm.
