Letter written to Nathan Kelsey Hall

Nathan Kelsey Hall, American, 1810 - 1874 · January 17, 1851

This letter was written in anticipation of the passage of the Act of March 3, 1851, that again lowered postage rates. The contractor has engraved and encloses proofs of a steel die for a new 3-cent stamp, saying, "Being already engraved, it could be prepared for immediate use, if required." The firm also recommends they be printed in blue ink.
