Mint, 2-cent brown-red; "POD" [Post Office Department] stamped on back. Issued imperforate; line engraved on steel by Frederick Halpin, transferred to a steel plate, and printed by Archer & Daly, Richmond, Virginia. The central design is a full-face portrait of Andrew Jackson modified from the vignette of the U.S. 2-cent 'Black Jack' stamp of 1863, thus sometimes referred to as the 'Red Jack' by collectors.
