A broadside handbill written by Republican Robert Gleed in support of his candidacy for Sheriff of Lowndes County, Mississippi. The handbill is printed on one side of a sheet of white paper with black print. Printed at the top center of the handbill is large, bold black text that reads [To The Voters of Lowndes County.], underscored with a centered, short, thin line. Below is the right aligned date and location that reads [Columbus, Miss., Sept. 28th, 1875], followed by three paragraphs of text written by the Gleed. The handbill was written to address the concerns of the white citizens of Lowndes County, noting that, should Gleed be elected as Sheriff, former Lowndes County Sheriff Jerry Dowsing would serve as general deputy in charge of the office and stating his goals for the office. The handbill is signed [R. GLEED.]. The back of the handbill is blank.
