A sepia tone carte-de-visite of a gentleman in a long, velvet collar overcoat. Captured standing a tall dark-haired man poses for his portrait wearing a dark, knee-length three button jacket, bowtie, bright shirt, dark vest and trousers, and dress shoes. He is flanked by a curtain with large bright tassels, and a plain wall. He rests his proper right fist on the edge of a molded wooden structure. The floor is made up of patterned squares. On the reverse of the carte-de-visite are numerical graphite inscriptions along with "Jennings" and "photographer - Brayton, Napa]. There is also a green, three-cent revenue stamp initialed [J/B] at the bottom.
