Cast silver medal with decorative scrolled border pierced top and bottom for attachment to clothing. Double-sided: on the obverse a profile bust of Charles I , and with his consort, Henrietta Maria, on the reverse. The portrait types are well-known from Medallic Illustrations, I, p. 357, 223. Presumably made for a Royalist supporter in the Civil War or Interregnum. Compare TAR 2003 no. 274 in which a similar model has only the profile of Charles I with initials of a local supporter on the reverse. Mid 17th Century. As such, due to its age and precious metal content, this object qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
