1207
Medieval Coin: Complete, but bent in two, silver short cross penny. The moneyer is Abel and the mint is London. This information allows the coin to be identified as belonging to Wren's class 5c (AD.1207) to Class 7a (AD. 1217-1222). Unfortunately the inability to see the portrait detail on the obverse means that the coin cannot be further narrowed down in date. The coin is probably an issue of John (AD. 1199-1216) but could possibly be an issue of Henry III (1216-1272).This coin is therefore dated AD 1207-1222.
