Furniture fitting,Length 41.3, width 29.5, thickness 1mmRectangular plate, portrait orientation. Heraldic bird in the centre facing/walking left (28mm tall, 15mm wide), detail of the right wing is still visible which is flat against the body and has recessed linear detail depicting feathers. There is a rectangle that is coming up from the right side of the body that narrows towards the top that is probably the right wing raised up to head height, some remains of the detail of the head remain with the eye and mouth represented by raised lines. The bird is within a raised liner border (30mm long, 18mmwide, 1mm thick) with remains of blue enamel in the recesses. This is then surrounded by a plain recessed border (3mm wide) that has remains of blue enamel in the recess. This is then surrounded by another raised border varying between 3-4mm thick with remains of zigzag decoration on top.Rivet hole on the top right and bottom right corner (2mm diameter).The artefact has been gilt.Plain reverse. The left edge is angled upwards from the inside (for a length of about 2mm) to form a point, suggesting that this could have been a corner plate.The original surface has corroded away, living a pitted light brown surface with occasional small patches of light green corrosion.
