18th century copper alloy Jetton. The obverse shows what appears to be the profile of a man wearing a hat. The profile extends from the head down to mid-arm length. Owing to wear on the token it is unclear whether the portrait was detailed or in silhouette. Next to the mouth/neck area there is a very clear circle. The portrait is surrounded by a continuous border, on the outside of which there is lettering, now totally illegible. The same can be said for the lettering on the reverse side, which has the same border. Inside the border there is a shield, with other lettering or decoration both inside and outside. This also is unclear.
