Post Medieval square copper alloy double sided coin weight. It is very worn but on the obverse appears to be a three quarter length portrait of James I with the legend: I R BRI[T]. On the reverse is Vs/VI D under a crown, possibly with a crowned I stamped upper left. This is a British made weight for revalues British crown of James I, 2nd coinage, 1604-1619 AD (Withers and Withers 1995:14-15). It is 12.1mm square by 2.4mm thick; it weighs 2.20 grams, 33.8 grains. This is slightly lighter than the examples listed in Withers and Withers (39 grains, 2.5 grams), probably due to corrosion.
