1276

The Portable Antiquities Scheme

A worn and fragmented Medieval silver Irish long cross penny. The monarch is unknown but it is probably Edward I of England (1272-1307 AD). On the obverse the portrait is contained in a triangle but the poor condition prevents further identification. The end of the reverse legend finishes in NIE indicating the coin was minted in Dublin. The coin most probably dates between 1276 and 1302 AD.
