Head portrait of the sitter Ruffham Collet, one of Thomas Thurlow's workmen. He wears a shirt, a neckerchief and the collar of his jacket is visible. He is clean shaven, has a full head of hair. Large nose. Plain background. Plate set in a black japanning frame, with black metal sight edge. Suspension loop intact attached to the frame with a hanging mechanism, decoration as a banner. The words BEARD PATENTEE are on the banner (Richard Beard).
