A broken silver medieval finger ring. The outside of the hoop is bevelled and carries a poorly engraved inscription. The lower half reads: * merns [quatrefoil engraving] nRzRreu [the R's are engraved in reverse]; the upper half of the hoop begins with a foliate engraving and reads: moa(?)o(?)ui. It is not immediately apparent what this inscription means. The inside of the hoop is plain.Dimensions:Length: 26.32 mmWidth: 22.63 mmWeight: 2.9 grams and thickness of the loop band is 1.9mmThe age and precious metal content of this item therefore qualify it as treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
