A Medieval copper alloy scale pan dating to the 17th century. This scale pan is circular with three suspension holes arranged equidistant around the edge of the pan. It is concave with a small recess in the centre and traces of linear engraving running around the inside, indicating a compass drawn design. Theobject has a golden colouration with patches of dark brown on the reverse.Similar scale pans can be found in Margeson (1993, no. 1578-9) and in Egan (1998, no. 1039), all of which range from the 13th to 17th century. The closest example, in terms of decoration, is no. 1579 from Margeson, which dates AD 1600-1700.
