Medieval gilt copper alloy buckle with integral plate, for sue with a spur. Almost circular frame; tapering strip pin; elongated plate of D-section with almost parallel sides and a projection on both sides at junction with frame, pin hole, two convex-headed rivets with sheet roves and a median groove running between them, and inside edge in the form of a moulded animal head decorated with very fine rocker-arm engraving. Length 55mm. Width of frame 13.5mm, of plate 5.5mm at centre, 7.5mm at animal head. Dating to the 13th - 14th century.
