Medieval copper alloy tongue-shaped strap-end composed of two plates of uneven thickness secured by three rivets, near the attachment edge, in the centre and the knop. The latter is of abnormal form, pear-shaped and with a nipple. The sides taper in a straight line from the attachment edge. Immediately above the knop there are three filed notches in both sides, linked by quite faint grooves on both faces. Decoration on the front face close to the attachment edge consists of two transverse and two oblique lines of finely executed interrupted rocker-arm engraving giving the appearance of tiny addorsed triangles. Length 44mm. Width 9mm. Maximum thickness of plates 0.3 and 1mm. 14th century.
