Incomplete Medieval composite strap-end, missing a forked spacer and integral knop, for which there is evidence in the form of solder on the inner faces of the sheet plates. The angled outside edge has sprung apart but the straight attachment edge, with round aperture and groove at the front, is secured by two rivets. The front place is decorated with two large saltires formed from lines of rocker-arm engraving and with a similar line along both sides. Leather fills the gap from the attachment edge for a length 14mm. Length 61mm, width 22mm. Second half 14th – first half 15th century.
