Late Saxon copper alloy stirrup-strap mount of Williams 1997, Class A, Type 9, in quite fresh condition, but without any trace of iron rivets or fitting. There is a single rivet hole in the angled flange. Most details of the mask have been emphasised by engraving. As such it is similar to a number recorded by Williams (1997, 51-52; no. 171ff.), of which many were found in Norfolk. Height 38.5mm. Width 29.4mm. Weight 29.50g. 11th century.
