Medieval copper alloy buckle: oval frame with offset, narrowed bar and straight ornate outside edge with three longitudinal grooves between a pair of ribs flanked by prominent knops; wire pin; trapezoidal sheet plate with pin hole, frame recesses, two sub-conical headed rivets set in the centre and, along both sides and across the (slightly wider) inside edge lines of finely executed interrupted rocker-arm engraving giving the appearance of tiny addorsed triangles. The frame is in a duller and paler surfaced alloy that the other two components. Cf. Egan and Pritchard 1991, fig. 42 no. 271. Overall length 36mm. Frame 16.5 x 15mm. Plate 21.5 x 8-7mm. Mid 14th to mid 15th century.
