Part of a heavy post medieval openwork mount, perhaps a furniture fitting, depicting a boar’s head within vine scroll, the front face carrying a mass of intense engraving, especially on the boar’s head. The edge in front of the boar is complete as is the straight (now distorted) base. The top edge is missing one short length of plant while the edge behind the boar is broken, with an uncertain amount missing. On the reverse an incomplete projection from the base is broken across a round aperture. 43 x >41mm. Thickness 2 – 2.5mm. 17th – 18th century.
